Measure Cortisol, the body’s ‘Stress Hormone.’ High cortisol levels can contribute to weight gain, weakened immune system, acne, thinning hair, fatigue, diabetes, and more.
This Test Measures Cortisol
Cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands and is the primary stress hormone. It’s your body’s natural “flight or fight ” response.
High cortisol levels – high cortisol levels can be caused by underlying issues such as overactivity or cancer of the pituitary or adrenal glands, chronic stress or medication side effects.
Low cortisol levels – low cortisol levels mean the adrenal glands aren’t making enough cortisol. This could be caused by Addison’s disease, removal of the adrenal glands, certain genetic disorders, or certain antifungal medications.
